In a world where gender norms have long shaped the way we dress, the simple act of wearing a garment can become an act of rebellion. The history of women’s trousers is a reflection of that constant struggle for freedom and equality, a history that is intertwined with the evolution of the sailor suit for girls. <\/span><\/p>\n

Why does a simple garment cause such a stir?<\/span><\/h3>\n

In the 30s, Marlene Dietrich and other Hollywood stars such as Katharine Hepburn and Greta Garbo, decided to dress openly in a suit resulting in a scandal for public opinion, with accusations under the charge of “impersonating a man” for the mere fact of wearing pants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the 20th century, trousers began to make their way into the female wardrobe, mainly driven by practical necessity during World War II, when women took on more functional job roles. However, it was in the 60s when this garment gained real relevance thanks to fashion icons such as Coco Chanel and brands such as Yves Saint Laurent. Chanel, known for defying conventions, transformed the pants into a symbol of the modern, confident and free woman. In 1966 Saint Laurent presented the ‘Le smoking’ suit, a trouser set that embodied female power and sensuality. <\/span><\/p>\n

Despite resistance and criticism, pants became one of the favorite garments of many women in the 70s. Films such as “Annie Hall” helped popularize this style, challenging the established norms of fashion and femininity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hortensia sought to break with stereotypes in a sector more rooted in the traditional and offer an option that would allow girls to express themselves without gender limitations. <\/span><\/p>\n

The sailor suit became a bestseller, proving that there is a real demand as an alternative to communion dresses.
